We’ve got a hot new arrival in Sicily – Ozone Edge VT Ultra-X. A kite that’s not even on the market yet, but already available in our test center. And right from the first rides, it’s clear – the step up with the Ozone Edge VT Ultra-X is massive. Thanks to the use of Aluula material, a slimmer leading edge, and a new 16-point bridle system, this kite is incredibly light, stiff, and at the same time extremely stable, fast, and playful. In the air, it feels featherlight, yet it’s strong and climbs beautifully. And what surprised us the most – the speed. Even though it’s a 13 m, it feels like flying an 11. The kite is fast, lively, and still perfectly predictable.
We currently have the Edge VT Ultra-X in 13 m right at our Sicilian test center. The biggest surprise came while riding downwind – the kite doesn’t move an inch and stays rock solid. Add to that the strong upwind performance, allowing you to ride sharply against the wind without losing pull or height.
Edge VT Ultra-X 13 m² – we tested it in the same conditions as 17s, but in low wind it’s on a completely different level. Super stable downwind and with a much steeper upwind angle. For us – a real surprise!
This kite can be ridden by kids from 36 kg and 12 years old in very light winds, all the way up to beautiful sessions in 13 m/s – and the jumps are absolutely unreal. It’s a luxurious all-round machine, and the ride range from 6–13 m/s with the 13 m size is truly exceptional. If someone chooses this machine, there’s no need for an in-between size. Updated after first tests in Sicily – end of September / early October.
Edge VT Ultra-X – mid and strong wind It shines the most in medium to strong wind, where it shows its true potential. From 9 m/s upwards, the 13 is a serious flyer. Thanks to its shape and rigidity, we were able to jump way higher than with the previous version. The wind range is massive – you barely feel that it’s a 13 above your head, and the moment you’d usually switch to a smaller kite is exactly when the fun begins. The kite stays stable, holds power, and even in stronger winds, it won’t drop you like a stone. In average 12 m/s winds, Jiri flew nearly 100 m safely without a kiteloop landing.
It’s a surprisingly versatile kite. The fun starts from just 5 m/s, when with a larger board or foil it holds solidly thanks to the slim leading edge, Aluula material, and 16-point bridle. Upwind performance is much better than older Edge versions, and it’s noticeable even in light wind.
For freeride, the Edge VT Ultra-X is excellent even for progressing riders, but from 9 m/s upwards, the real magic begins. This 13 m version feels so quick and responsive in the air that you’d swear you’re flying an 11 m kite.
Recommendation: 13 m is the ideal low-end option for riders up to 95 kg. For heavier riders over 95 kg, the 15 m will be a better choice.
The Ozone Edge VT Ultra-X 13 m is now available in our e-shop, and we even have one demo-tested unit for sale – practically new, just tested by our riders.
